Conquering Casper Mountain

Perhaps our biggest site to see is Casper Mountain, which looms over our comparably small city. It's only a short half-hour away from our RV Park, and it's usually the highlight of our guests' vacation. If you enjoy nature, this should be your first major stop.

The mountains can provide hours of outdoor fun for all ages regardless of the season or time of day. While the mountain may seem overwhelming at first, by the end of your trip you'll have it memorized up and down. Here are some of the activities people love.

Take the Scenic Route

As the saying goes, the best way around an obstacle is to go through it. Many guests start out their Casper Mountain experience by driving the scenic routes around the mountain. Navigating the twists and turns of the oversized hill can provide hours of gorgeous landscapes and photo opportunities. If you're lucky, you might be able to stumble into the local wildlife.

Preparing for the drive is easy! Bring snacks, water, and meals as necessary. Fill up your car with gas (and people). The best part about the drive is that everyone can enjoy what Casper Mountain has to offer, no matter their age, physical condition, and interests. You also better grab your camera or phone for any well-timed snaps.

A Trek on the Plains

But you don't want to just see landscapes from a distance! It's also fun--and to some, debatably more fun--to enjoy nature up close. If you want to go on a more thorough expedition, hop out of your car and step onto one of the many hiking trails layering Casper Mountain. There is a trail here for everyone, each ending with a beautiful vista or geological feature. The trails are suitable for dogs, but make sure to bring a leash.

One of the fan favorites to mark on your map is Bridle Trail in Rotary Park (3.2 miles). It's one of the easier hikes on offer, but that doesn't mean you can't see something cool! The trail has some beautiful forest views, rock formations, and a waterfall to top it off!

Want to stomp around where the dinosaurs walked? Slightly west of Casper Mountain, the Cottonwood Creek Dinosaur Trail (1 mile) has been home to actual dinosaur fossils! This prehistoric pathway is the perfect length for young children--especially your dinosaur lovers!

Don't Let the Snow Stop You

Unlike other places, your journey doesn't have to stop when the snow falls. In fact, Casper Mountain isn't blocked off from travelers in the winter. You actually can participate in even more exciting adventures!

Eadsville Trail (3.9) miles is the perfect path for wildlife enthusiasts. Not only can you see some of the winter fauna running through the snow, but it is only accessible by snowshoeing in the wintertime. Strap on your snowshoes, and skip your way on this unforgettable trail!

While you can spend time wandering up the mountain with friends, adrenaline junkies should enjoy hauling down the mountain at top speed! Skiing has become an adored pastime in Casper. Twenty-eight ski trails are available to test out, some of which are perfect for beginners, and others are almost exclusively for experts.

If you don't own any winter gear, you can rent from the local Mountain Sports or Zeelo's Cranks N Planks.
